  • Audience

People planning a table, an occasion or a wedding who choose by taste and colour first.

  • The challenge

A florist is chosen on feeling. The site had to be quiet enough to let the work lead while still making an enquiry simple.

  • Creative direction

Warm ivory, deep burgundy and a soft botanical green, with a high-contrast serif that does most of the talking. Botanical plates are drawn in vector and stand in for photography.

Colour

  • Warm ivory #F6F0E4. Page.
  • Deep burgundy #5A1A2B. Gallery and accent.
  • Botanical green #4A6140. Supporting.
  • Dark plum ink #2A1D20. Type.

Typography

Cormorant Garamond with Inter Tight

An elegant display serif is balanced by a restrained sans for detail.

Interface decisions

  • Type leads

A large serif headline opens the page before any image competes.

  • Gallery in burgundy

A full-colour section gives the plates a stage and breaks the ivory rhythm.

  • Plates open larger

Selecting a plate opens it in a dialog that closes with Escape or a click outside.

  • Two-step enquiry

The flowers first, then contact details. Short enough to finish.
